Squat Word Recall

When training it is key to be focused in your endeavors, whether it be a squat, sprint or giving a speech.  However, sometimes too much internal focus can  hinder performance.  This drill can be utilized to help the athlete put the main task on autopilot subconsciously while increasing working memory load and requiring attention to be divided.  The best performances are usually when you're not overthinking them. 

*This drill should be used with experienced lifters.  

90% 1RM

4-6 Words (can use numbers)

Limit remember/recall time between 5-10  seconds (shorter  the time the harder it is due to stress)

-Promotes external focus

-Helps with Mindfulness (here and now)

-Builds working memory capacity (being able to manipulate information to make decisions)
